SNEAKERHEADS, SNEAKER COLLECTORS & SNEAKER FRIENDS.

The Art of Sneaker photography by Jose Angel. Welcome to my world of sneakers, as a sneaker collector enthusiast and long time Nike fanatic and advocate myself I wanted to create a space for all those sneakerheads, sneaker collectors and sneaker lovers like myself and advocate for the sneaker community, culture and movement. I want to use this space to promote and showcase some of my close friends & mentors and their love for sneakers. I’ve created & designed a few wallpapers for my Sneaker Wallpaper Collection and would like to share them with you all, also I would like to share with you all my stories of inspiration behind my sneaker collection as a token of my appreciation for your love and support in the sneaker community. I have an emotional attachment with sneakers and it’s an extension of who I am. Jose Angel revolutionized and changed the way that people would now look at the importance of a sneaker and it’s culture, to me image and attention to detail is everything. The same key elements and attention to detail that he’s been using in his many years of photography is the same creative direction that he’s taking with his sneaker “Wallpaper Project Collection”. For as long as I can remember growing up in Chicago the sneaker community, movement and culture was always a big thing in my generation back in the 90’s, everyone was a sneaker collector at heart at some point in their life. From Air Jordan’s, Air Force 1’s to Air Max 1’s and Air Max 90’s and everything else in between. Coming up in a rough neighborhood or environment with drugs, gangs and violence around me wasn’t always easy for me but I always managed to stay inspired and focused and hopefully someday I would be able to design and put my name on something that means a lot to me, sneakers “Saved My Life”. I wasn't fortunate enough to have some of my all time favorite sneakers or kicks during those times, times were tough but we managed to get through. After years of hard work and dedication in the photography & film industry I managed to make a name for myself and the rest was history. As a sneaker collector myself every detail matters to me and every color, texture and design matter to me in the end. As a photographer & filmmaker the same key elements and attention to detail is what I use on my takes, photography & filming techniques and incorporate them in my template designing aspect of my sneaker wallpaper designs. I’m passionate about color palettes, textures, colorways, custom finishes and my personal touch designs. So to all my loyal fans and sneaker collectors out there please do feel free to download my Free Wallpapers as a token of my appreciation and thank you for the love and support and let’s continue to collect sneakers and let’s keep the sneaker culture alive, it’s a MOVEMENT it’s not just a sneaker!

Let’s go back in time to 1988 on the Southside of Chicago at the United Center arena where the G.O.A.T and legendary Michael Jordan would go on in history winning six NBA Championships with the Chicago Bulls and would go on in history with an accolade of achievements throughout his career. This era was extremely important to me and has a lot of meaning and history in my hometown Chicago “Chi-Town” as we like to say and we don’t “SHY” away from anything and winning six championships was no exception. Designer Tinker Hatfield and Nike would be put to the test to design the very first Air Jordan 3’s for none other than Michael Jordan to test and showcase his basketball skills on the court with the famous visible air technology. The Air Jordan 3 went on to become a staple in the sport of basketball and Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls would make there mark and put Chicago on the map. The stealth Air Jordan 3 “Black Cement” is one of it’s kind in the entire world, it set the tone for what was to come in the future of sneaker culture and the world of sports. Going into the creative process and my inspiration behind the design with this wallpaper was that I wanted to put all my focus on the details because details matter to me a lot. As a photographer and director I do my very best to use my artistic and creative skills to visually build a blue print and showcase the workmanship and quality of the Air Jordan 3. Starting off with the stealth high quality black leather in the upper and working it’s way to the Air-Sole with the visible air window unit that provides lightweight cushioning. Last but not least we can’t forget what started it all, the famous legendary luxurious elephant print wrapped from front to back giving this Air Jordan 3 a very unique design and style and set this sneaker apart from other sneakers. The Air Jordan Legacy will continue on for many years to come and will be an important era for generations to come. Michael Jordan paved the way for future athletes and basketball players to Dream BIG, real BIG, anything is possible when you put your mind to it……

It’s a known fact that colorways, textures, comfort and aesthetic design is what makes a great sneaker but also the inspiration and story behind the sneaker, every sneaker has a unique story and it deserves to be told. As a sneakerhead and sneaker collector myself for the past few months I’ve been working up and coming up with a concept and strategy design to honor my beautiful Mexico City, CDMX. When I saw the endless possibilities that I can do with the new Nike Phoenix Waffle, I knew instantly that I was going to dedicate this specific style & design to my Mexico City. Being a proud Mexican it was very important to me to incorporate our flag colors red, white & green into the design of this fresh new sneaker, it was my way of paying tribute to my beautiful Mexico City and our culture. Starting with the nice clean white base and suede look and following it up with the famous Nike Swoosh in red leather and the Nike backtab, also adding the green stripe alongside the Midsole topline was a very important detail for me. Finally closing out the final touch it was a must for me to put my very own Seal of Authenticity stamp on this particular pair of sneakers with the “MEXICO” engraved stamped on the bottom left side of the shoe and the “CDMX” engraved stamped on the bottom right side of the shoe. The Nike Waffle allows me to go from a photoshoot to a film set and straight to the gym or a quick run without any interruptions. The versatility and comfort of this sneaker is extremely amazing and that’s what makes it unique. The nice cushion midsole height enhances stability and underfoot cushioning for a smooth comfortable ride. Overall Nike will always bring their A Game with their innovation designs & concepts to the forefront and that is what will always set them apart from the rest globally.

This one is for my Chicago fam, as a sneaker enthusiast myself going into this project and designing this wallpaper was definitely something personal for me because once again Nike did it again with this unique Chicago collaboration of the Air Max 1 ‘86 OG “Chicago”. My City of Chicago goes deeper than just deep dish pizza. We are known for our towering legendary skyscrapers, Sneaker Culture and let’s not forget that we are the Capital City of International House Music and we take a lot of pride in that. Going into this specific Wallpaper Collection design was definitely a huge treat for me considering that these are literally my “Area Code” 312 in Chicago. From all the Air Jordan Legacy 312’s this one in particular is one of my favorites simply because it has a lot of key features that stand out to me and have history and a huge significance in my City of Chicago . This Legacy shares our Chicago Flag colors, the BLUE represents the two blue stripes which reminds us of our important waterways: Lake Michigan and the Chicago River. the WHITE represents the white stripes for the neighborhoods where people live all across the city including the north, south and west sides. The RED represents the four stars that represent major historical events. First of all this one is a staple and a representation of my hometown Chicago with the “Chicago Flag” colors. Also it’s the only one from the Legacy 312 family that actually has a full front & back wrap of the famous cement print that gives it even more exclusivity. Secondly this one has a very distinctive style. Nike did an amazing job with the designing combination aspect of this Legacy 312. This Legacy 312 Low “Chicago Flag” has a combination of the “Chicago” Legacy 312 Low, the Air Jordan 3 Retro Black Cement and the Air Jordan 1 Retro High and Low “NC to Chicago”. As a sneakerhead, sneaker collector and architecture enthusiast myself it only made sense that I would go on to create and design a wallpaper that means a lot to me and represents something different and unique inspired by the World-Renowned Tinker Hatfield. Tinker’s idea for his Air Max 1 “Big Bubble” design was inspired by one of his favorite buildings in Paris, France “The Centre Pompidou” and that is when the concept of the Air Max 1 was born and the rest was history. My inspiration behind this wallpaper design was to incorporate everything that Nike, Tinker and the entire team at Nike put into this special project. My job was to bring out the very specific features and details like the “Maxxed Out” “Big Bubble” and showcase the artistic unique design on the shoebox and emphasize on the four air bubble holes on the bottom of the box and light up the inside of the shoebox with my LED lights and give it that cool “Glow” so in case if you’re wondering the answer is yes, those are the original holes on the box. The red & white colorway and the famous textures and finishes is definitely one of it’s strongest features on the Air Max 1. Nike even went an extra step and put a lot of thought into the designing process of the shoebox by placing the famous “Swoosh” at the top of the box and placing a see through window which is a genius idea and that is exactly why Nike will always stand out from the rest for their innovation, technology and creativity. For us sneakerheads or sneaker collectors it’s not just a sneaker it’s a piece of “ART” and a piece of history in the world of sneaker culture.
